An official statement on Tuesday stated that 76 people are still unaccounted for in the disaster-stricken state of Sikkim, where the death toll from the flash floods has risen to 40. As of right now, 4418 people have been evacuated from each of the four affected districts, according to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority.
“A total number of people were evacuated in Mangan (2705) Gangtok (1025), Pakyong (58) Namchi (630) however there are 40 casualties, with Pakyong facing the most deaths (15),” an official statement said.
SSDMA said that currently, 1852 people are residing in 19 relief camps across four districts in the state.
