Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ to arrive Rajasthan on June 16, NWR suspends trains

As the cyclonic storm “Biparjoy” is expected to make landfall in southwest Rajasthan on June 16, the North Western Railway (NWR) has suspended some train services, according to officials.

“Keeping in view the safety and security in view of the cyclonic storm Biprajoy in the Bay of Bengal, train services are being cancelled/partially cancelled by the Railways,” the NWR stated in a statement.

The Jaipur Meteorological Center’s Radheshyam Sharma predicted that on June 16, the cyclonic storm Biparjoy is likely to weaken and enter south-western Rajasthan as a depression.

The services of five trains operating on the NWR have been cancelled from the originating station, while the services of nine trains have been partially cancelled, according to Captain Shashi Kiran, the North Western Railway’s chief public relations officer.

The thunderstorm and rain activities are anticipated to begin in the districts of the Jodhpur and Udaipur divisions only after the afternoon of June 15, according to the storm’s impact, he said.

Sharma stated that some locations in Jodhpur and Udaipur may experience heavy rains on June 16 as a result of its impact.

He predicted that winds in southwest Rajasthan will likely reach speeds of 45 to 55 km/h at this time.

In several regions of the neighbouring territories, including Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions, the storm’s effects are anticipated to persist on June 17 in the form of heavy rain.

The extremely dangerous cyclonic storm Biparjoy, according to Sharma, is presently developing in the Bay of East Central Arabian Sea and is slowly travelling north.

On June 15, there is a good chance that this storm will be a very severe cyclonic storm when it reaches the coasts of Pakistan, Saurashtra-Kutch, and other nearby countries. He predicted that it would then proceed to the north-east and eventually weaken.
