Cyclone Biparjoy intensifies into ‘very severe’ cyclonic storm

The India Meteorological Department reported on Sunday that the extremely dangerous cyclonic storm Biparjoy has been moving north-northeastward at a speed of eight kilometres per hour during the past six hours.

“It is very likely to move nearly northwards till Wednesday morning, then move north-northeastwards and cross Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan) around noon of 15th June as a very severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph,” the Met Department said.In Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar, the IMD has issued an alert. Additionally, from 11 June to 14 June, fisherman in coastal areas have been urged to exercise caution.
