CRPF and Assam Police Seize Large Amount of Explosives in Cachar, One Detained

In a joint operation, the police and CRPF captured a man and confiscated a large amount of explosives in Assam’s Cachar district. Acting on confidential information, a joint team launched an operation at Silchar Kalain Road under Kalain police station. The apprehended person, identified as Nazim Uddin (22) from Sundaura village, was found in possession of 97 detonators and 96 fuses, concealed in a bag.

On a separate occasion, during a routine check at the Gumrah police outpost on November 12, two vehicles—a truck and an SUV pickup—were detained. The vehicles were found to be carrying one tonne and 20 bags of Burmese supari, respectively. One individual has been apprehended in connection with this incident, and necessary legal actions are being initiated.

This follows a similar incident on November 10, where Assam Police seized a substantial quantity of Burmese supari and apprehended two individuals in the Hailakandi district. Acting on sourced information, the police team conducted a search operation at Pachim Kitterbond Part 1, recovering 12 sacks of illegal Burmese supari weighing approximately 480 kg, along with a vehicle. Two individuals, identified as Abul Kalam (48) and Saydul Islam Barbhuiya (28), were apprehended in connection with the case.

Investigations are underway to determine the source and destination of the seized explosives and Burmese supari, and further legal actions will follow as necessary.
