GHAZIABAD: Thugs hacked the mobile number of the reception of a Covid-19 hospital, and have been cheating patients who call on that number.
After the matter came to light, there has been a stir in Ghaziabad’s Avantika Hospital. The director of the hospital has lodged a complaint with the police station. The cheating modus operandi was simple: The director of the hospital says that a phone with a keypad is used at their reception. The hackers somehow diverted the number of the SIM used in that mobile to their number. After this, when the patients called for an appointment in the hospital, the call went to the hacker. Patients were told that a token of Rs 5 would be charged for appointment at the hospital. Patients were asked to enter their PIN number online in the name of the token. After this, the thugs cleared thousands of rupees from the account of the patient.
When two patients made such a complaint to the hospital, a case was registered in a hurry. The director of the hospital himself was shocked by such a unique fraud. Director of the hospital, Dr Yuvraj, told The Daily Guardian that he has given a complaint to the police about the matter. The police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
