COVID-19: VILLAGES IN HARYANA WITH MORE THAN 5% POSITIVITY RATE TO BE RESCREENED

Chandigarh: Amid a sudden rise of fresh Covid-19 cases in the rural areas of Haryana, the state government has come up with a decision to conduct screening under the banner of the Haryana Villagers General Health Check-up (HVGHC) scheme, the endeavor kicked off from May 15, 2021. Following the completion of the first phase of the scheme, it was found that the positivity rate of the disease in some of the villages exceeds more than 5 percent which is a constant threat of a resurgence of the pandemic. Given this, the government had mulled over every possible strategy which led to the implementation of the HVGHC scheme.

Apart from this, a spike in the death toll was also witnessed in a string of villages falling in different districts. In wake of initial results, the health department has ordered the officials to keep a close eye on such villages so that the infected population can timely treatment. What is more relieving is that the high death count during the second wave continues to come down.

Further, the health officials will conduct screening sessions again in the villages where more than 5 percent population was infected and the same process will continue until the disease rate does not come below the acceptable rate. Health teams will have to rescreen the villages after one week of completion of the first round. Rohtak, Sonipat, Hisar, Bhiwani, jind are among those districts where the rural population has been adversely affected by the disease in terms of the death toll and new cases. Keeping this in view, the health department had formed more than 5000 teams to conduct screening in villages across the state, and to some extent, it helped in bringing down the new coronavirus cases.
