Court warns Tejashwi to choose good…, after rejecting CBI’s cancel bail demand

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, appeared in court in Delhi on Tuesday as the CBI moved to revoke the RJD leader’s bail. Tejashwi Yadav was allegedly trying to sway the investigation as it was being conducted in connection with a case involving the suspected IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) scam.

Yadav was charged with making threats against CBI agents during a press conference. However, the Delhi court declined to revoke the bail.

The argument put up by the CBI attorney was refuted by Counsel Maninder Singh, who was representing Yadav, one of the accused in the IRCTC case. In his press conference, my client discussed a variety of topics, including frauds and other political issues, Singh said.

“I have spoken about Land for Job scam, I have spoke about the raids in that case, then how are they seeking the cancellation of bail in the IRCTC case?” the lawyer further argued on his behalf. If the CBI officials feel threatened, he added, and then they can register an FIR (first information report) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

His counsel further argued that he “is in the opposition party and raising questions on the wrongdoing is his duty”. “The same thing against CBI and ED was also asked by the Present Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was a CM and was in opposition in 2013,” the counsel contended.

The court warned Tejashwi to use cautious when speaking in public.

“We are not cancelling the bail. Will pass detailed order today and warn Tejashwi to choose better behavior,” the court said.
