Cooper Hospital dean denies allowing Rhea in mortuary

The Dean of Cooper Hospital, Pinakin Gujjar, where Sushant Singh Rajput’s post-mortem was done, has denied that permission was granted to the late actor’s purported girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty to visit the mortuary.

The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) had sent a show-cause notice to Cooper Hospital on August 26 for “allowing Rhea to enter the hospital’s mortuary” when Sushant Singh Rajput’s post-mortem was being conducted.

The Dean’s lawyer appeared at the office of MSHRC with an interim report which stated that, “The management of the Cooper Hospital didn’t allow Rhea to enter the mortuary.”

Gujjar’s statement to the MSHRC assumes significance as far as the CBI probe into the mysterious death of Sushant Singh is concerned. There were reports that Rhea had visited the mortuary of the hospital where the post mortem of Sushant was being done. The probe team is trying to get any crucial clue to crack the case and it is, for that matter, closely examining each and every statement of those linked to this case. It will also collect the Gujjar’s statement given to the commission. Sources say that if need be the agency may quiz the Dean also. Rhea’s movements and behviour of that time are also being scrutinized by the team which is trying to get anything that could corroborate any piece of information. Hence, the denial by the Dean to give any permission to Rhea to visit the mortuary is quite important from that point of view.

According to information, Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission’s Chairperson MA Sayeed has asked Gujjar to give a full statement in writing by September 7.

Meanwhile, the CBI called Rhea Chakraborty for questioning for the fourth time on Monday. Rhea remains to be a prime suspect in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
