Authorities in Ladakh swiftly responded to the discovery of nine unexploded shells, ensuring their safe disposal through a controlled explosion in Chulitse Kulum, Kharu. The prompt action was initiated following a report from Councillor Sonam Thardos to the Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM).
According to an official spokesman, upon receiving information about the presence of the shells, the SDM immediately engaged with the Trishul Division of the Army. The Army’s engineers promptly coordinated with local police to safely dispose of the hazardous materials.
In a meticulous operation overseen by army experts, the unexploded shells were successfully neutralized through a controlled explosion, mitigating any potential risks posed to the surrounding area.
The collaborative effort between local authorities and the armed forces underscores the proactive approach taken to ensure public safety and security in Ladakh. Such swift responses to potential threats are crucial in safeguarding communities and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
