Contract marriage scam: 26.35 lakhs swindled in the name of sending abroad In a case of deceiving by offering the lure of contract marriage and sending abroad, a scam of 26.35 lakhs has come to light. The accused have victimized Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Landran’s City of Dreams Society. In this case, the Khad Police have registered a case of cheating against six people based on the complaint of the victim Gagandeep Singh. The identities of the accused are Rameet alias Reema, Erika alias Raunak alias Mahindi Nivasi Jira, Happy Sohal Nivasi Barnala, Lakhwinder Singh Nivasi Malerkotla, Heera, and Rachna Nivasi of Moga district. Investigating officer Jasvir Singh informed that all the accused are currently absconding.
Gagandeep Singh has filed complaints three times in the case to SSP Mohali. In the complaint filed on October 31, Gagandeep Singh stated that he came in contact with the accused through an advertisement. The accused showed him several dreams in the name of settling abroad. They arranged a contract marriage with a woman, assuring to settle both of them abroad. They took 26.35 lakhs from him, but later did not send him abroad and did not return the money.
When he went to their office, their bouncers did not let him enter. Later, the accused even blocked his phone. The case is being investigated by the DSP Headquarters. After finding the accused guilty in the investigation, a case has been registered against all of them.
