CONGRESS WONDERS IF TELANGANA COPS WILL ARREST TRS LEADERS

Hyderabad: AICC spokesperson Dr Sravan Dasoju has questioned the Telangana police, especially the DGP, whether they are ready to take into preventive custody or house arrest the TRS ministers, MLAs and other leaders who will be protesting against the Central government’s farm laws on Tuesday.

It is known that the CM KCR has decided to extend the TRS’ support to the agitating farmers in Delhi who are protesting against anti-farmer reforms for the last 12 days. A large number of political parties and farmer associations have called for a “Bharat Bandh” on Tuesday.

According to the senior Congress party leader, whenever the Opposition parties, including the Congress, protest against any anti-people decision in Telangana, the police house arrests the leaders to restrict them right at their residence itself. So, he doubts whether it can be applied to the TRS leaders tomorrow. “Curious to know if the Telangana police tomorrow restrict TRS ministers, MLAs, MPs and leaders through house arrests which was a usual undemocratic practice whenever the Opposition conducted or be selective in their policing,” Dr Sravan questioned the police on Twitter.

Dr Dasoju further criticised the stand taken by KCR who has been crippling the farmers in Telangana over the last six years by forcibly introducing controlled farming in the state. “Despite the farmers producing crops dictated by you, the state government isn’t buying their produce in time. However, you are now coming out in support of farmers to make a new drama,” he alleged.

It is a fact that the TRS government never supported the farmers in Telangana. KCR ignored agriculture and never talked anything about the farmer suicides in the state. No minimum support price is given to them. The TRS has been only supporting the NDA government by endorsing each of its reforms right from note ban to GST. But, KCR has now changed his stand and commenced a new drama to further betray the farming community. “Almost 5,000 farmers have committed suicide in this state. No MSP is paid for the rice and not purchasing maize from the farmers,” Dr Sravan said.
