The Congress bagan countrywide agitations from Sunday on the issue of disqualification of Rahul Gandhi’s membership of the Lok Sabha.
In every headquarters of the state including Delhi, the Congressmen launched a satyagraha and fiercely attacked the Modi government at the Centre. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot including most of the party officials participated in the programme organized at Raj Ghat in Delhi.
The strategy of the party is to take the movement to the district and block level. For this, chief Ministers, state Presidents, legislature party leaders have been asked to hold division-wise rallies and meetings. It is clear from the speech given on Sunday’s Satyagraha in Delhi that the role of Priyanka Gandhi is going to be bigger. The second party will respond to the BJP by projecting Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as a big OBC leader.
CM Gehlot even took a jibe at the BJP in his speech that he also comes from OBC. He is the only MLA of his own caste in Rajasthan. He is the chief minister for the third time and BJP is condemning Rahul Gandhi of insulting the OBC leader. The party is trying to start its movement across the country before the BJP’s campaign starts from 6 April.
The Congress will hold a nationwide rally on the issue of Rahul Gandhi from the next month. The venue for the rally is yet to be decided. This rally will be held either in Delhi or Karnataka. If sources are to be believed, the party will make Rahul’s case a major issue in the Karnataka elections. Elections are to be held in Karnataka in May.
The party’s next step will be to blockade the Parliament House. After that the leaders will go to the states. Following the court decision, the Lok Sabha secretariat canceled Rahul’s membership of the Lok Sabha. Congress alleges that BJP and Modi government are nervous due to raising the issue of Adani. Congress leaders have started making a big issue of the action taken against Rahul and projecting him as a sacrifice. Congress feels that sympathy towards Rahul has increased across the country which will directly benefit the Congress.
