CONGRESS WALKS OUT FROM HIMACHAL ASSEMBLY AGAIN, ALLEGES BACKDOOR APPOINTMENTS

SHIMLA: Congress staged a walkout on the consecutive second day in state assembly accusing Jairam government of allowing illegal appointments. The Speaker rejected the notice under Rule 67, Congress legislators started raising slogans and staged a walkout. The opposition party congress on Wednesday, staged a walkout in the Himachal Pradesh assembly session, demanding an explanation regarding the issue of ‘alleged’ backdoor entries in the government jobs.

Opposition legislatures demanded a debate under rule 67 on the appointments being made by the government in floating rules. Congress Legislature party leader Mukesh, along with his party legislators Col D Shandil, Asha kumari Lakhanpal and Rajinder Rana, sought a debate under rule 67, adjournment notice given by them.

Speaker Vipin Parmar turned down the demand and said that the matter is not debatable under Rule 67.

Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar in his ruling said that the issue had been discussed in the question hours earlier in the morning, in the house yesterday only.

The leader of the opposition, Mukesh Agnihotri said that the appointments are being made from the CM’s constituency only.

He alleged that all these appointments were made by ignoring thousands of meritorious youth of the state, and that it appears that in one constituency almost 5,000 people had been given employment avenues in violation of all rules and regulations.

Congress party, along with CPIM MLA Rakesh Singha, demanded that a White Paper be issued on the matter and also a detail from all the 68 constituencies about the employment.

While interacting in the assembly premises the Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur accused the opposition of staling the House just to be in media headlines. CM termed opposition a group of attention seekers and into the habit of staging walkouts every day from the house.

CM rejected allegations of violation of norms in appointments made in his regime and said that the government is ready to face any independent investigation in the matter raised by opposition leveling unsubstantiated allegations in the Assembly.
