On Monday, Congress women leaders from 21 states concerned the central government by holding a press conference on the issue of women’s reservation. Recently, by convening a special session of Parliament, the Congress has been consistently attacking the BJP on the women’s reservation law.
In Jaipur, at the Pradesh Congress headquarters, CWC member and Congress spokesperson Alka Lamba held a press conference on Monday on the issue of women’s reservation. Lamba criticized the BJP-led central government. Alka Lamba said that the BJP is an anti-OBC and anti-women party, which works to divert the attention of the people of the country. She said that the Congress supported the Women’s Reservation Bill in the House, but the central government stalled its implementation.
Lamba demanded that women’s reservation be implemented, in this election itself, the conditions imposed for the census, and delimitation should be removed, and rights should be given to half of the country’s population considering the 2011 census as the basis.
She said that the rights given to Panchayati Raj and municipalities were given by Rajiv Gandhi, due to which today 1.5 million women are elected representatives. Alka Lamba made a serious allegation against the BJP, saying that BJP MP Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh used to exploit OBC women. She stated, “When the wrestler’s daughters protested, the BJP government ruthlessly dragged them onto the streets of Delhi.”
She said that Congress will fight this battle across the country, and they will not back down. During this time, Alka Lamba also claimed that the BJP insulted Vasundhara Raje. She asserted, “Due to the Gehlot government, LPG became cheaper, which also forced the central government to bow down. Now, we will not let women’s reservations become a joke. The BJP government wants to make it a mere promise.” She said, “Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave promises like 15 lakh rupees in every bank account, double the annual employment, and doubling the income of farmers, showing a red eye to China, but those promises were not fulfilled.” Lamba said that the BJP should be called the ‘Indian Jumla Party’.
The Congress spokesperson said that after the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill, along with the empowerment of women, strong and aware women will come to Parliament and raise their voices against crimes happening against women, looking into the eyes of the government.
