Illegal posters and flexes being put up on government properties in Haryana were discussed during the Question Hour in the state assembly on Tuesday. Congress MLA B Batra raised the issue and asked if the government had taken any action to remove them. He alleged that posters were being put up on elevated roads, pillars, and bridges. Home Minister Anil Vij reminded Batra of the Congress party’s conduct during its Bharat Jodo Yatra and accused them of dirtying all buildings. Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta informed the assembly about the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and action taken against illegal pasting of posters and flexes in the last three years.
Batra stated, “The entire Haryana is facing this problem of unauthorized flexes and posters.” Meanwhile, Vij responded, “When Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through Haryana, tell me one road which you had left, you dirtied all buildings.”
Gupta added, “We have already enacted the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1989 under which authorities concerned can take action against illegal posters and flexes on government buildings. Municipalities in the state have taken action against illegal pasting of posters and flexes in the last three years.”
