Congress leader Wadettiwar questions OBC vacancies in government jobs

Vijay Wadettiwar, a senior Congress leader, took aim at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, raising concerns about the 15 percent of government job positions designated for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) that remain unfilled in the state.
Wadettiwar’s criticism coincided with the commencement of the OBC Jaagar (awareness) rally led by BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Wardha district.
In a post on social media, the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly questioned the disparity, stating, “People from the Other Backward Classes have a 27 percent reservation in government jobs, yet only 12 percent of OBC employees are currently employed. Why are the remaining 15 percent of positions left vacant?”
Wadettiwar further alleged that the issuance of OBC certificates was being carried out clandestinely and called upon Bawankule to demand action against this practice. He also inquired whether Bawankule would raise the issue of conducting an OBC census with the Prime Minister.
