Congress criticizes BJP’s governance in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) President, Govind Singh Dotasara, launched a scathing attack on the BJP government during a press conference today, highlighting what he described as a year of failure under BJP rule. Dotasara accused the BJP of failing to deliver on promises made during the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections and raised serious concerns over governance, law and order, development work, and economic policies. Development Work Halted: BJP’s Broken Promises
Dotasara highlighted the BJP government’s failure to resume vital development projects that were approved under the Congress regime. He pointed out that the BJP’s Finance Department issued an order halting the ongoing work, which included infrastructure projects such as roads, schools, and hospitals. Despite a year in power, none of these projects had resumed. “The BJP has shown a complete lack of commitment to development,” Dotasara said, condemning the government’s failure to fulfill its promises. Dotasara challenged the Chief Minister to a public debate on the BJP government’s record. He criticized the government for its failures across multiple sectors, including governance, law and order, development, and economic policies. Leader of Opposition, Tikaram Julie, Dotasara’s claims, stating that the BJP’s 100-day action plan had proven to be a hollow promise.

Law and Order in Decline: Rising Crime Rates

The law and order situation in Rajasthan came under heavy criticism, with Dotasara accusing the BJP of failing to control rising crime. He highlighted a significant rise in crimes against women, particularly minor girls, which increased by 23% in the past year. Dotasara also pointed to the growing influence of land and mining mafias, with allegations of BJP leaders supporting these illegal activities. “Bharatpur, the Chief Minister’s home district, tops the crime charts,” Dotasara remarked, underscoring the government’s failure to maintain law and order.

Youth Unemployment Crisis: Empty Promises

The Congress leader also focused on the BJP’s unfulfilled promise of providing 1 lakh jobs in the first year. Dotasara pointed out that the government had not issued any recruitment notifications, leaving the state’s youth without opportunities. He also criticized the BJP for failing to address the paper leak issue, which the Congress had tackled through strict laws. “The BJP claims to have solved the paper leak issue, but no recruitment exams have been conducted,” he said, challenging the BJP’s claims.

Economic Failures: Rising Fuel Charges and Stalled Schemes

Dotasara accused the BJP of increasing fuel charges and halting financial relief measures initiated by the Congress government. He particularly pointed out the withdrawal of discounts on agricultural and domestic connections. He also criticized the BJP for taking credit for the ERCP project, which had already seen over 80% of the work completed under the Congress regime. He questioned the lack of funding from the central government for the project and the absence of any financial commitment from Prime Minister Modi.
Failure to Support Farmers: Unfulfilled Promises
The Congress leader emphasized the BJP’s failure to meet its promises to farmers, especially regarding the procurement of wheat at the MSP of Rs 2700. He also noted the unavailability of fertilizers and DAP during the sowing season, further compounding farmers’ struggles. “The BJP has failed to support farmers as promised,” Dotasara stated, highlighting the widespread discontent among the farming community.

Internal Conflicts and Governance Failures

The Congress leader also touched upon the BJP’s internal conflicts, particularly the strained relationship between the Chief Minister and Finance Minister. Dotasara accused the BJP of focusing more on attacking the Congress than addressing governance issues. He also criticized the BJP for failing to conduct elections in municipal bodies and panchayats, opting instead to govern through administrators.

Rising Rajasthan: A Show with No Substance

MLA Rohit Bohra raised concerns over the “Rising Rajasthan” initiative, criticizing the MoUs signed at the event. Bohra argued that the initiative would not bring any tangible benefits to the state’s economy or create jobs for the youth. “Rising Rajasthan is just a show to grab land without any real commitments,” he said.
