Congress candidate Choudhary Lal Singh booked by J&K police

Congress candidate and former MP, Choudhary Lal Singh, has been booked by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for alleged obstruction of government duty, defamation, and insulting a police official during an election campaign event.

An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against Lal Singh under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 353 (obstruction of government duty), 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation) at the Kathua Police Station.

The Congress candidate is accused of using unparliamentary language and verbally abusing a police personnel who was on duty during his campaign. A video purportedly showing this incident has been circulating on social media platforms, further escalating the matter.
The incident has drawn attention and criticism, especially in the midst of ongoing Lok Sabha election activities in the region. The video footage has sparked controversy and raised concerns over the conduct of candidates during the electoral process.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police are investigating the matter, underscoring the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that election campaigns adhere to ethical standards of conduct.
