CM’s announcement: 1260 roads transferred to district councils post-CM’s directive

The marking board, in accordance with the Chief Minister’s directives, has now transferred a total of 1260 roads in the state to the district councils across 11 districts. The local roads in villages will now be overseen by the district councils. In the first phase, 1260 roads in 11 districts have been handed over to the district councils. The estimated cost for the special or annual repair of 997 roads in these 11 districts is approximately Rs. 153.61 crores.
District council officials will conduct surveys of these roads in their respective districts. The survey will identify which roads require repair and the estimated cost for repair and special maintenance. Following the survey, a batch of 30 elderly individuals will be prepared by the government, accompanied by a volunteer. If the number of elderly individuals interested in pilgrimage to a particular location is high, the government will arrange special trains for them.
Currently, these roads, which are outside the jurisdiction of the Delhi-Lower Parel Project (DLP), have been transferred. Officials from the district councils will assess these roads in their respective districts. The survey will determine which roads require repair and the projected cost for special or annual repairs. Following this, the roads will undergo restoration through the tender process.
In six districts, an estimated budget of Rs. 67.07 crores has been allocated for the repair of 396 roads. These districts include Jhajjar, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Rohtak, and Sonipat. For the annual repair of 288 roads with a length of 725.47 kilometers, an estimate of Rs. 4.7 crores has been made. Additionally, a budget of Rs. 62.37 crores has been allocated for the special repair of 108 roads with a length of 388.61 kilometers.
For the repair of 601 roads in five districts (Karnal, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Palwal, and Yamunanagar), an estimated budget of Rs. 86.54 crores has been established. Tenders for 373 of these roads, with a budget of Rs. 11.2 crores, have already been opened.
