Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu campaigned for his Congress candidates ahead of the Shimla Municipal Corporation polls on Sunday. The Chief Minister visited a ward in Chhota Shimla from where he was elected twice as a councillor in the past.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sukhu urged voters to support Congress candidates in the upcoming elections. He accused the BJP of misleading the people in Shimla by promising 40,000 litres of free water, which they failed to deliver in the past five years. The Chief Minister emphasised that this election is not about PM Modi, whose election will happen in 2024.
Earlier on April 27, CM Sukhu arrived at Shimla Municipal Corporation to campaign for Congress candidates and held meetings in seven wards. He highlighted that Congress is the government in the state and will advance the development of Shimla city. The Congress party will solve every problem of the city by providing clean water, widening roads, and fixing the hanging electric wires in Shimla.
The Chief Minister campaigned for Congress candidates in various wards, including Lower Bazar, Ganj Bazar, Summerhill, Bharari, Kuftadhar, Kaithu Ward, and Anadel. He assured the people of Shimla that the Congress government has taken many decisions in the interest of the state and is working for the welfare of every section of the state.
The election for the Shimla Municipal Corporation is scheduled for May 2, 2023, with the counting of votes and the results to be declared on May 5, 2023. The Chief Minister’s visit and campaign for Congress candidates in Shimla are expected to boost the party’s prospects in the upcoming polls.
