Chief Minister Eknath Shinde kickstarted a cleanliness drive in Mumbai on Sunday, drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advocacy for nationwide cleanliness through various campaigns. Shinde articulated the objective of transforming Mumbai into a pollution-free, clean, and green metropolis, affirming, “Today, Mumbai has evolved into a pothole-free metropolis.”
Personally spearheading phase 3 of the ‘Deep Clean’ initiative across four administrative divisions (wards) encompassing four circles of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Shinde highlighted the importance of citizen participation in this transformative endeavor.
The event saw the presence of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Minister, and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, along with MPs Manoj Kotak, Rahul Shewale, and MLAs Ram Kadam, Kalidas Kolambakar. Commissioner and Administrator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Dr. Iqbal Singh Chahal also graced the occasion.
Additional Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Additional Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Dr. Sudhakar Shinde, and other dignitaries actively engaged in the campaign. The cleanliness drive commenced at Amritnagar circle in N division, where Shinde, donning gloves, personally participated in cleaning operations and honored sanitation workers, recognizing them as the backbone of the drive.
Shinde extended the cleanliness campaign to Kamraj Nagar and Ghatkopar East areas of Rajawadi Hospital, spanning multiple divisions.
