The Department of Community Medicine and the School of Public Health at PGIMER organised a study tour of Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH-16) for 28 senior nursing Practitioners from seven countries on January 11. This initiative was part of the International Public Health Management Development Programme.
This tour was a component of the ten-day specialized Nursing leadership and management program aimed at fostering global collaboration in healthcare education. Participants hailed from Maldives, Tanzania, Niger, Tajikistan, Seychelles, Argentina, and Botswana.

GMSH-16 was selected for the study tour due to its status as the oldest hospital in the city, renowned for its prompt and efficient services. The objective was to showcase best practices in nursing care, focusing on the implementation of initiatives such as Kayakalp and LaQshya. The intention was for the visiting practitioners to replicate these practices upon their return to their respective countries.
The visiting nursing practitioners were divided into four groups, and a well-designed and coordinated tour plan took them to various workstations of the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, including Emergency, ICU, OT, Private Wards, Labour Room, Maternity OT, and OPDs. Designated staff at each station briefed them on the aforementioned topics.
Following the tour, a discussion and feedback session took place, chaired by the Director of Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director (NHM). The Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Nodal Officer-NHM, and District Family Welfare Officer were also present during the session.
The event was highly successful, with all visiting participants expressing appreciation for the prevalent practices and protocols followed in the hospital to deliver quality healthcare services not only to the city’s residents but also to the adjoining states.
