Surveillance and intelligence staff from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) apprehended three passengers at the check-in area of Terminal 3 in IGI Airport on Saturday evening, according to a CISF statement. The passengers, identified as Basid, Mubashir Jamal, and Kayfee (all Indian nationals) bound for Kabul via Sharjah on Air Arabia Airlines flight No. G9-466, were diverted for a thorough check of their baggage due to suspicion.
During the screening of their baggage through the X-BIS machine, CISF personnel observed suspicious images. Upon physical examination, a substantial quantity of various types of medicines with an estimated value of INR 52 lakh were discovered, as reported by CISF. The passengers failed to produce supporting documents for carrying such a large quantity of medicines.
The CISF promptly informed senior officers and customs officials about the matter. Subsequently, the passengers, along with the detected medicines, were handed over to Customs for further investigation and action. Additional information is awaited.
