Chief Electoral Officer urges timely reporting of campaign expenses

On Monday, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta issued a directive to all political parties participating in the assembly elections, instructing them to incorporate reports on expenses, transactions, and funds utilised in their campaigning. Gupta urged the timely submission of contribution reports, audited annual accounts, and election expenditure details. He emphasized that the Election Commission has provided guidelines for Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPP), requiring them to submit this report in three sections.
Gupta specified that the contribution report should be submitted by September 30 or the last date extended by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR). Audited annual accounts are to be provided within one month from the last date of filing ITR, and a partial report on election expenditure details is due within 30 days of the election results release. Additionally, orders have been issued to submit the final report of election expenditure details before the Chief Electoral Officer within 75 days of the assembly election results.
