The Chandigarh Transport Undertaking’s shuttle bus service for popular tourist spots, including Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, and Chandigarh Bird Park, has been utilized by more than 5,700 individuals since its launch on November 18. Operating exclusively on weekends, the service aims to alleviate traffic congestion around these destinations. Initially, 534 people used the service on the launch day, followed by 935 on August 19. The recent Sunday witnessed a substantial increase, with 2,797 people opting for the shuttle bus.
The service, priced at Rs 10 for a round trip, operates six buses at intervals of five minutes, with pick-up and drop-off points at Rock Garden, Gursagar Sahib Turn, and Sukhna Lake near the ATC light. The Chandigarh traffic police is collaborating with CTU to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian movement, implementing one-way circulation for public convenience at these tourist spots.
