Silent protest in demand of recruiting thousands of Assistant Professors in state-run colleges. Haryana Aspiring Assistant Professor Association conducted a silent protest outside the Haryana Mini-Secretariat in Sector 17, Chandigarh, on Tuesday. Additionally, the delegation from HAPA met the Chief Minister’s OSD, Bhupeshwar Dayal, and submitted a memorandum outlining their demands. Due to the imposition of Section 144 in the area, Chandigarh Police had made prior arrangements for security. However, some members of the delegation stayed at the Sector-17 parking ground. After a delay, police officials contacted the OSD Bhupeshwar Dayal to arrange a meeting between the delegation and senior officers from the Higher Education Department. The delegation included prominent figures like Professor Subhash Sapra, former regional vice-president of Haryana Government College Teachers Association, and others. OSD Bhupeshwar Dayal assured the delegation of prompt action regarding their demands. He stated that the process for regularizing the staff from private colleges to government colleges is currently not underway. Dayal also mentioned that there is a plan to recruit for thousands of vacant positions in government colleges under the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation to avoid any academic loss for students. In response, Professor Subhash Sapra emphasized that the Haryana Aspiring Assistant Professors Union is strongly opposing this move. He also mentioned another demand, related to an investigation into the recruitment of 2000 extension lecturers in the state, alleging fake degrees, incorrect appointments, and nepotism. OSD Dayal assured a meeting between representatives from Haryana Aspiring Assistant Professors Union and senior officials from the Higher Education Department to address these concerns promptly.
