Relief was witnessed on Tuesday from the prevailing foggy conditions that had persisted for several days. Due to the emergence of sunlight in the morning, there was an increase in temperatures. While the mercury had dropped to 11 degrees a day earlier, it was recorded at 14.8 degrees on Tuesday. Despite the sunlight, a cold wave continued, leading to persistent cold. The Chandigarh Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for the next 2 days, also warning of mild to dense fog.

Currently, there is no significant decrease in nighttime temperatures. The minimum temperature is expected to range between 9 to 10 degrees. However, the maximum temperature is anticipated to reach 15 to 16 degrees over the next three days.
It’s noteworthy that Punjab has been consistently experiencing dense fog and severe cold. Consequently, people are compelled to stay indoors. The weather department has forecasted that most districts in Punjab will continue to endure dense fog and bone-chilling cold. The department has issued an alert for dense fog and cold days for the next 4 days starting Wednesday. Although the weather will remain dry in Punjab with no possibility of rain, cautionary advice has been extended to the public. People are urged to be cautious, slow down while driving, and avoid walking, among other precautions. The department has issued advisory notices to avoid fog and emphasized the necessity of venturing outside only when absolutely necessary due to the direct impact of fog causing irritation and harm to the respiratory system and eyes.
