Chandigarh remembers Gandhi in memorial gathering

A commemorative event was held at Gandhi Smarak Bhawan, Sector-16, Chandigarh, managed by the Gandhi Memorial Fund of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, Pattikalyana District, Panipat, on the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi. Devesh Moudgil, former Councillor Syndicate and Senate member of Punjab University, lauded the noble work of Gandhi Memorial Bhavan in disseminating Gandhi’s principles. He emphasized the relevance of Gandhi’s teachings in fostering mutual love and harmony, expressing concern over declining youth participation in such programs.

The chief guest, Satyapal Jain, Senior Advocate, Additional Solicitor General, Government of India, and former MP, highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s dedication to uplifting the underprivileged. Drawing parallels with the Mahabharata, he emphasized the importance of detachment and peaceful resolution, aligning with Gandhiji’s philosophy. Jain urged for collective efforts to propel the nation and society forward, offering a genuine tribute to the Father of the Nation.

Ashok Kumar Sharan, Trustee of Sarv Seva Sangh, Wardha, and Gandhian activist, presided over the event, providing insights into the ongoing programs at Gandhi Memorial Building. He underscored the tradition of honoring great personalities on Martyrdom Day and the global impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent movements. Sharan emphasized the continued relevance of non-violence in today’s tumultuous world, especially amidst conflicts like Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, and naval fleet attacks.

Ranjana Goyal, Gandhian and social worker, expressed gratitude to the guests and emphasized the necessity of Gandhiji’s principles of truth and non-violence for world peace. She invited Chandigarh residents to participate in future programs at Gandhi Memorial Bhawan.

The event saw the presence of enlightened individuals from surrounding areas, students, and various dignitaries. It served as a platform to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, advocate for non-violence, and foster community engagement in Gandhi’s
