Chandigarh experienced its coldest day of the season with a maximum temperature of 22.5°C, marking a deviation of 2.8 degrees below the normal temperature. This is the lowest recorded temperature so far this season, attributed to cloudy weather and rain in southern parts of Haryana. The day temperature continued to decrease from 24.7°C on Sunday to the recent low of 22.5°C on Monday, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The impact of the western disturbance causing this cold spell is expected to diminish from Tuesday, and a new disturbance is anticipated from November 30, although rain is not expected at present.
The minimum temperature increased from 12.6°C to 13.7°C due to the overcast conditions, marking 2.8 degrees above the normal temperature. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is forecasted to hover around 25°C, with the minimum temperature remaining approximately 13°C. The Air Quality Index (AQI) indicated poor air quality in Sector 53, with an average AQI of 228 at 7 pm, while Sectors 22 and 25 registered moderate air quality with AQI values of 174 and 163, respectively. Panchkula, on the other hand, reported satisfactory air quality with an AQI of 63 at the Haryana State Pollution Control Board observatory in Sector 6.
