Chandigarh IPS Manisha Chaudhary returns, SSP traffic reshuffle

The UT administration of Chandigarh has decided to return the services of IPS Manisha Chaudhary, who belongs to the Haryana cadre, to the Haryana government on November 30, 2023. In her place, SSP Chandigarh, Kunwardeep Kaur, has been given the additional charge of SSP Traffic. IPS Manisha Chaudhary, of the Haryana cadre, was appointed as SSP Traffic and Security in 2020. She belonged to the 2011 batch and was deputed to Chandigarh UT for a period of three years. According to the Chandigarh UT administration, she will be relieved on November 30, 2023. Previously, IPS Shashank Anand of the 2006 batch served as SSP Traffic and Security in Chandigarh until July 29, 2020. Manisha Chaudhary was the first female officer to hold the position of SSP Traffic and Security in Chandigarh. After completing the three-year deputation period, she has been sent back to Haryana.

It is noteworthy that the position of SSP Traffic and Security in Chandigarh is reserved for officers from the Haryana cadre. The Haryana government sends a panel of IPS officers, from which the selection is made, and the selected officer is then appointed to the post. Following this, the Chandigarh administration has requested the Haryana government to send a panel for this post.
IPS Deepak Gahalawat, Sumer Pratap Singh, and Smriti Chaudhary are part of the panel. After the consent for Manisha Chaudhary to return to Haryana, the Chandigarh administration has requested a panel from the Haryana cadre for the appointment of SSP Traffic and Security. Five IPS officers applied under this panel, including Deepak Gahalawat, Sumer Pratap Singh, Smriti Chaudhary, Mohit Handa, and Narendra Bijarniya.
