Chandigarh introduces waste-to-wonder park at chrysanthemum show

A novel addition awaits visitors at the upcoming Chrysanthemum Show in Chandigarh’s Terraced Garden, Sector 33, where a waste-to-wonder park designed specifically for children will be unveiled. The event, scheduled from December 8 to 10, promises to captivate attendees with innovative attractions akin to the existing park in Sector 32, ensuring its status as a permanent feature.
This eco-friendly initiative involves repurposing diverse forms of waste, including used tires, chains, bearings, iron sheets, pipes, and other plastic materials. The transformed waste will be utilized to create an array of engaging structures such as a tunnel, tyre hut, see-saw, spring rider, hill, twists and turns, crawling obstacles, dragon tyres, and more. Furthermore, waste from the Municipal Corporation’s construction and demolition plant will be repurposed to craft a snakes and ladders game, catering specifically to the enjoyment of children.
As part of the display, the Municipal Corporation plans to showcase a significant topiary featuring its “Rakhna Sambhal” campaign at the event venue. This innovative addition aligns with the broader theme of environmental consciousness and sustainable practices.
Amidst the vibrant exhibition of flowers, featuring varieties from government bodies, semi-government bodies, institutions, nurseries, and amateurs, the waste-to-wonder park stands out as a unique and educational attraction. The initiative not only contributes to waste management but also serves as an engaging platform to promote environmental awareness and creativity among the younger audience. The Chrysanthemum Show is expected to offer a blend of natural beauty and sustainable innovation, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.
