Chandigarh Administration Spearheads Empowering Women on IWD 2024

On International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, collaborates with various line Departments across U.T., Chandigarh, to organise a series of events recognising and encouraging efforts for women empowerment and gender equality. These activities fall under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

In partnership with DAV College, this joint initiative aims to raise awareness and appreciation for women’s contributions. The celebration serves as a catalyst for promoting gender equality, fostering dialogue, and inspiring collective efforts for a more inclusive future. The event at DAV College, commemorating International Women’s Day, featured cultural performances showcasing the talents and strength of women, emphasizing their vital role in society.

Chief Guest Kamal Sisodia, Commandant of CRPF 13 Battalion, added profound dimensions to the celebration by spotlighting the courageous abilities of women and emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping the country’s destiny. Ms. Kamal promoted “Nari Shakti,” encouraging a collective commitment to creating an environment where women thrive and significantly contribute to societal progress.

Dr. Palika Arora, Director Social Welfare, and Naveen, Joint Director Social Welfare cum SDM (South), were also present. Dr. Palika Arora delivered a compelling message on women empowerment, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and nurturing women’s potential and encouraging everyone to contribute to creating an inclusive and empowering society.

Students took center stage, captivating the audience with diverse cultural activities highlighting the rich tapestry of women’s talent. The performances served as a testament to the creativity, resilience, and dynamism that women bring to every sphere of life.
