An investigation has been initiated into allegations of sexual exploitation against a professor at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa, Haryana. The Sirsa police intervened following an anonymous letter from 500 female students of a university department. Both the students and the professor were interrogated.

After the investigation, ASP Deepti Garg stated that they have gathered complete information about the matter. He mentioned that the truth behind the anonymous letter will be revealed soon. Regarding the ongoing investigation, he refrained from commenting on the credibility of the allegations.

University Registrar RK Bansal addressed the media, acknowledging the receipt of an anonymous letter on Thursday evening. He assured full cooperation with the police, mentioning the formation of an internal complaint committee. The committee is set to commence the investigation immediately, acknowledging that all possibilities are being considered.

The Registrar emphasized that any conclusions would be premature until the investigation results are known. The police have already questioned some of the girls involved, and all relevant records are in their possession.

The anonymous letter detailed months of alleged inappropriate behavior by the professor, describing incidents in his office bathroom after isolating the girls from other staff members. The letter also claimed threats from the professor, who allegedly destroyed evidence and manipulated CCTV footage. The girls expressed a lack of trust in the university and called for the removal of the professor to restore their honor and dignity.

These accusations come on the heels of a similar incident in Jind, Haryana, where 142 girl students accused a school principal of molestation. The principal was subsequently arrested after the matter was brought to light, including a letter to the Women’s Commission by one of the victims, President Draupadi Murmu.
