The CBI on Wednesday conducted searches at premises of the then aide of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, and 11 other locations in Delhi and Rajasthan in the alleged insurance scam case, officials said.
They said CBI teams started a search operation early this morning at the residence of Malik’s then aide Saunak Bali, Chartered Accountant Sanjay Narang, Virender Singh Rana and Kanwar Singh Rana, Priyanka Chowdhary and Anita in Delhi and Rajasthan.
According to an updated information from the agency, the searches are spread across 10 places in Delhi and two districts in Rajasthan. The agency move comes within a month of questioning Malik on April 28. The search operation was necessitated after the analysis of financial documents, digital evidence and statements of accused and other persons in the case, they said.
CBI searches are underway at the premises of Sunak Bali, an aide of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik. Bali was the media advisor to Satya Pal Malik when he was governor.
Officials said that the person whose premises are being searched was an aide of Satyapal Malik when he was governor. This action of CBI is being done in the insurance scam case.
Earlier, on April 28, a CBI team had reached RK Puram, the residence of former Jammu and Kashmir state governor Satyapal Malik, to get more details in the alleged Rs 60 crores corruption case. The matter pertains to a health insurance scheme, which was allegedly asked to be carried forward. Malik had claimed that he was offered bribes to clear files during his tenure as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir between August 23, 2018, and October 30, 2019.
