CBI arrests ED of Power Grid Corporation, five others in bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested BS Jha, the Executive Director of Power Grid Corporation of India and five senior Tata Projects officials on bribery charges on July 7. The other arrested accused are VP Deshraj Pathak and Assistant VP RN Singh, on bribery charges.

According to senior CBI officials, the CBI teams have recovered Rs 93 lakh cash from the premises of BS Jha, Executive Director of Power Grid Corporation, in Gurugram.

Meanwhile, CBI officials are conducting a search operation in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad.

It is alleged that Jha was extending favours and the official has demanded and accepted bribes in the North Eastern Regional Power System Improvement Project for Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, BS Jha is currently posted in Itanagar.

However, the arrested accused have been produced in court and further investigation into the matter is underway.
