An Uttar Pradesh roadways bus collided with a moving tanker on Thursday on the National Highway near Kuberpur, within the jurisdiction of the Etmadpur police station in the Agra district, killing two passengers and injuring dozens more.

The accident happened at 6.30 a.m. when a bus carrying 30 passengers from Firozabad to Agra collided with a tanker.

The injured passengers have been taken to Agra’s SN Hospital emergency department. Four of them have suffered serious injuries.

The Agra accident comes just days after a sleeper bus was involved in an accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Etawah district. The sleeper bus was on its way from Gorakhpur to Rajasthan’s Ajmer on October 23. Four people were killed, including a seven-year-old child, and 46 others were injured. The accident occurred around 2.30 a.m.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his condolences for the loss of life and directed district administration officials to properly treat the injured.

On the same day, a private bus carrying labourers to Uttar Pradesh for Diwali overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, injuring 30 passengers. According to Guna sub-divisional magistrate Virendra Baghel, the bus was on its way to Kanpur when it was hit at noon.
