Burka controversy in Jaipur after viral video sparks outrage

A video depicting a burka controversy has gone viral on social media platforms in the state capital, Jaipur. The viral video was reportedly filmed near the railway station in the Jagatpura area, close to Canara Bank. The incident is said to have occurred on August 28. While there is no verification of the content of the viral video, it has gained significant attention on social media.
According to the information available, the video appears to show a Muslim woman wearing a burka attempting to enter the bank premises. However, the security guard stationed there allegedly prevented her from entering, citing that women wearing burkas were not allowed inside. An argument ensued, during which the woman questioned why she was being denied entry. The security guard is seen explaining the bank’s policy, while the woman recorded the incident on video.
Subsequently, the woman complained to the bank manager about the incident and even recorded a video of her conversation with the manager. The bank manager, while discouraging her from recording, seemingly acknowledged the situation. However, the woman remained dissatisfied with the response.
The video has rapidly gained traction on social media, prompting Muslim organizations to take a stand against the incident. Leaders of these organizations have raised their voices against the Rajasthan government, demanding swift action against those involved.
Muslim leaders have called for strong action against anyone who discriminates against employees or visitors based on their attire. They suggest the use of metal detectors for security checks rather than discriminating against women wearing burkas.
As of now, no formal complaint has been registered with the police regarding this incident. However, in light of the viral video and public outrage, authorities have initiated an investigation to examine the video’s authenticity and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
