In an incident in Kalka, thieves forcibly entered a shop by breaking its shutter and made away with cash totaling 2.5 lakhs and goods worth another 2.5 lakhs. The criminals attempted to break into three other shops as well. The complaint has been filed with the police.
Councilor Kapil Ghai reported that his shop is located near the Bypass on the Kalka-Pinjore road, in front of the Housing Board. The shop in Kalka, where his employee usually sits, was closed around 8 PM on Friday as usual. On Saturday morning around 7 AM, a person working in a nearby shop called to inform him that the shutter of his shop was broken.
Upon reaching the scene, he discovered that the shop’s shutter had been lifted with a rod. The thieves had stolen approximately 2.5 lakhs in cash from his shop along with valuable items worth around 2.5 lakhs. He mentioned that besides his shop, there is another shop on rent as well as two other shops on the upper floor. The burglars attempted to break into these as well.
Ghai stated that he has filed a complaint with the police, who have registered the case and initiated an investigation.
