Bunty Bains, close friend of Moosewala, narrowly escapes assassination attempt

Bunty Bains, a prominent songwriter and singer hailing from Punjab and known for his close association with Sidhu Moosewala, narrowly escaped a life-threatening attack in Mohali. According to a recent report by India Today, the incident unfolded at a restaurant in Sector 79 of Mohali, where an assassination attempt took place. Fortunately, Bunty Bains managed to evade harm during the attack.

Following the assault, Bunty Bains reported the incident to the police, prompting an ongoing investigation. The shocking event was captured on camera, revealing windows with shattered glass and bullet holes in the timber frames.

In a disturbing turn of events, Bunty Bains also received a threatening phone call post the attack, demanding a ransom of 1 crore. The report suggests that the threat came from an individual named Lucky Patial, believed to be associated with the notorious Bambiha and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs.

Speaking with India Today after the attempted assassination, Bunty Bains shared his harrowing experience and disclosed the extortion threat, emphasizing that non-compliance with the demand would lead to dire consequences.The alleged threat from Lucky Patial, a reputed figure in the criminal underworld believed to be based in Canada, raises concerns about the involvement of gangs notorious for various illegal activities in Punjab. The police are actively investigating the shooting incident.

Bunty Bains is widely recognized for his influence on the careers of several Punjabi singers, including the late Sidhu Moosewala. Notably, Moosewala’s affairs were managed by Bains’ company during his lifetime.

The mention of Sidhu Moosewala brings to mind the tragic events of May 2022 when the acclaimed singer was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district. ANI reported that Moosewala was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. This incident occurred just a day after the Punjab police had withdrawn his security. In December of the previous year, Sidhu Moosewala joined the Congress party and contested in the Punjab assembly elections, though he faced defeat. Known for hits like ‘So High,’ ‘Same Beef,’ ‘The Last Ride,’ ‘Just Listen,’ and ‘295,’ Moosewala left an indelible mark as both a singer and a politician.
