President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of both Houses of the Parliament on Tuesday ahead of the budget session will be boycotted by Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Aam Aadmi Party, BRS MP K Keshava Rao said.
Rao said that the parties are not against the President and their boycott is a protest against the Centre’s “failures”. “BRS and AAP have decided to boycott the President’s address to Parliament today. We are not against the President but only want to highlight through democratic protest the governance failures of the NDA government,” Rao said.
Earlier today, AAP MLA Sanjay Singh called the President’s speech “a bundle of false promises and false claims by the Narendra Modi Government,” and their party will boycott her address.
“Hon’ble President’s speech is a bundle of false promises and false claims by the Modi Government. In this, there is not a word of her own. Modi government has proved to be a failure on every front, so @AamAadmiParty will boycott the President’s address,” Singh said.
Aam Aadmi Party’s MPs will stay out of the Parliament House at the time of the address. The Parliament has a total of 10 MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party.
On the opening day of a session, the President addresses the members of both Houses in the Central Hall of the Parliament.
President Droupadi Murmu will make his first speech to the combined session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
At 12 o’clock, the party will conduct a press conference at Vijay Chowk to explain its case.
The Economic Survey report, created by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and developed under the direction of chief economic adviser V Anantha Nageswaran, will provide details on the state of the economy and a range of indicators for the current financial year 2022–23 (April–March) as well as a forecast for the following year.
The session will include 27 sittings and last through April 6, after which there will be a month-long break to review the budget documents.
The first section of the session, which will be split into two halves, will end on February 13. The second segment will begin on March 13 and run through April 6.
