BSF shoots down Pak drone carrying terror weapons, NIA likely to probe the case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to investigate the case of a Pakistani drone which was shot down by Border Security Force (BSF). Earlier, Indian security forces launched massive search operations along the international border to track down terrorists and their contacts who were hiding to pick consignments sent from Pakistan. Apart from the drone, BSF also seized an American gun and seven Chinese grenades which were sent to Chandigarh Forensic Lab for examination.

Intelligence agencies had information that the drone, which was shot down by BSF in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, carried weapons and suspected that it was sent to the commander of the Jaish in Kulgam district. According to top sources of intelligence agencies, the Pakistan Army and Pakistani intelligence agency ISI were planning to send weapons through drones to the terrorists in the Valley as their weapons were depleting. To get more arms and ammunition, a message was passed to their handlers on Pakistani soil.

The intelligence agency had issued an alert regarding this, according to which ISI and the Pakistani Army were planning to send weapons in large numbers via drones to Kathua, Mendor, Poonch, Keran sector.

According to security agencies, the Pakistan-based handlers who were upset by the killing of a number of terrorists in Kashmir, had sent weapons to Indian territory to carry out any major terrorist attack on the Indian soil. In the last 6 months, the security forces have killed more than 100 terrorists present in the Valley, this has shocked the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and the Pakistani Army. With America-made guns, terror outfit Jaish has carried out terrorist attacks in the past. According agencies, the plan of the Pakistani Army is to send 50-100 sophisticated weapons in the Valley.
