Sixteen children have been reported missing after a boat carrying 33 children capsized in Bagmati river in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Thursday. The accident occurred near Madhupur Patti ghat along the Bagmati river when the students were commuting to school. 17 of them have been rescued so far. The 17 students were rescued by local divers of the village.
Although the SDRF and NDRF have reached the spot, the operation has not started yet because of unavailability of equipment.
“Rescue operation is underway… I have asked the district magistrate concerned to look into the matter with urgency. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families.” said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who is in Muzaffarpur to review the progress of ongoing projects in the district.
