BMW 5-Series LWB Bookings Open Today; Official Launch On July 24: Design, Features, Pricing

The new-generation BMW 5-Series has opened bookings in India, with the executive sedan already fully unveiled. The official launch in India, where it will compete with the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class, is scheduled for July 24.

The 2024 BMW 5-Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai and can be pre-ordered through BMW dealerships or the BMW Online shop. Prospective buyers can visit the company’s website to explore a 360-degree view of the car’s exterior and interior. They will then be directed to a bookings page where they can complete their reservation using a secure online payment system. Additionally, BMW Financial Services India offers the flexibility of the BMW 360 Finance plan during the booking phase.

2024 BMW 5-Series: Design

The India-specific model remains unchanged and mirrors the global version. The new-generation 5-Series has a distinctive yet recognizable look, featuring swept-back headlamps and sharp creases replacing the softer lines. Chrome use is minimal, with a brushed finish around the grille, which includes piano-black inserts and light surrounds. The exterior design aligns with the flagship 7-Series saloon. While the 18-inch alloy wheels may seem small, larger options will be available. As indicated by its name, the new 5-Series is longer, measuring 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.

2024 BMW 5-Series: Cabin

Similar to the exterior, the interior design marks a significant departure from the outgoing model. The dashboard features a large, free-standing 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and the cockpit is equipped with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster for a tech-savvy experience. Other notable features include four-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, an 18-speaker premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and Level-2 ADAS.

2024 BMW 5-Series: Performance

The 2024 BMW 5-Series is expected to debut with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine for the 530Li trim, enhanced with an electric boost. It is likely that the diesel engine option will not be available. An 8-speed automatic transmission will be standard across all variants. While a more powerful M variant of the 5-Series might be introduced, there is no official confirmation yet. The new-generation 5-Series will also not feature air suspension.

2024 BMW 5-Series: Price & Launch Date

The BMW 5-Series is set to launch on July 24, competing with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, and others. Rumor has it that only a long-wheelbase version will be available in India. Prices are expected to start at ₹ 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
