Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday demanded that the Telangana government stop taking up Haritha Haram programme in Podu lands being cultivated by tribals, without resolving their land issues.
In a letter written to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Sanjay said his party was not against the implementation of Haritha Haram programme to improve the green cover in the state, except in the forest lands, where the tribal farmers were involved in Podu cultivation.
“During the election campaign at Mahabubabad on November 23, 2018, KCR had promised to personally oversee distribution of pattas to podu farmers. Over three lakh tribals had applied for pattas for their lands, but till date, there has been no action from the government in this regard,” he said.
