BJP taunts DMK, alleges inciting feelings against ‘national spirit’

CHENNAI: The DMK and the Tamil Nadu administration have been sheltering people who don’t work in the interest of the nation’s development, alleged BJP national president J.P. Nadda during the party’s Tamil Nadu executive meeting on Monday.

Addressing the cadres through video conference, Nadda termed DMK’s agenda as “anti-development” and asked the Tamil Nadu administration and BJP cadres to stay alert and ensure to such forces don’t enter mainstream politics.

Nadda also asked the people of Tamil Nadu and especially the active BJP cadre to stay alert and give a befitting reply to people who are not working in the interest of the country. He also said that the DMK party was opposed to the idea of development and was raising issues which are not in the interest of the nation as part of its political agenda.

Referring to the New Education Policy draft, Nadda said that it is the Central government that has given due importance to the promotion of the regional languages and asked the party functionaries to read about the draft and highlight its importance to the people and make them understand about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his committment to the growth of regional languages. He also requested the booth committee members to reach out the youngsters, women and other marginalised sectors to highlight the policies and programmes given by the government to them and bring them into the mainstream.

While BJP state president L. Murugan addressing the cadres vouched that representatives of the BJP would be occupying seats in the state assembly and revoking the controversy over “Karuppar Kootam” issue once again, he demanded the state government to take stern action against them. Interestingly, when the senior state party functionaries maintained that BJP will head the alliance in 2021 and war of words exchanged between the alliance partners over the Vinayagar Chathurthi issue, both the national and state in-charges maintained silence over the alliance with the AIADMK.
