The crucial two-day National Executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party began here on Monday with an emphatic note that the party will go all out to win in all 9 states where the Assembly polls will take place this year. The party, however, would ultimately aim at ensuring a huge victory in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Setting the tone, BJP chief J.P. Nadda addressed the National Executive saying the party has to win all nine state elections this year and then general elections in 2024. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad briefed the media about party president Nadda’s speech on the first day of the National Executive meeting. Prasad said, “BJP chief J.P. Nadda said in the National Executive meeting that 2023 is very important and we have to fight and win nine state elections this year and then general elections in 2024.” Prasad said Nadda called upon the entire executive to gear up for the elections to ensure victory in all nine States. “BJP chief also discussed recently concluded polls and that Gujarat’s victory was historic and unprecedented. About Himachal polls, he said that we were supposed to change the tradition of changing government but we could not do that,” Prasad said. He said 72,000 booths were marked in 100 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country where BJP was weak and where the party had to reach. “But reached 1.30 lakh booths and make people aware of the policies of the party,” Prasad said. He said Nadda highlighted the ‘Panch Pran’ given by PM Narendra Modi which includes freedom from traces of the colonial past, holding pride in Indian tradition, commitment to making a developed India, unity in diversity, and making citizens responsible towards the nation. It is expected that the meeting will finalise the BJP’s future course of action with an eye on the upcoming electoral battles. Further, according to sources, the party’s think tank will chalk out individual strategies for each of the poll-bound states as well as hold a comprehensive discussion on a roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Top leaders many also be entrusted with big responsibilities in the poll-bound states, sources further informed. Nadda along with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States and other senior party leaders are participating in the event. In this meeting, besides the assembly elections, the party will discuss its ‘Pravas Yojna’ for weak Lok Sabha seats, and the strengthening of booth-level teams. Political, economic, and international proposals will also be discussed. This meeting will finalize the BJP’s future course of action, informed party sources. The meeting will conclude on Tuesday with PM Modi’s valedictory address. This is the first major meeting of the party after the landslide victory in Gujarat.
