The time for the inauguration of the grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya is approaching. While many are upset over not receiving an invitation to the Ram temple, on Wednesday, former Deputy Chief Minister and Tonk MLA Sachin Pilot also made a statement regarding Ayodhya.
Addressing the media about the question of going to Ayodhya, Sachin Pilot said, “I don’t need an invitation to express my faith and visit the temple. I will go when I feel like it. All the pilgrimage sites in the country are visited by our fellow countrymen. This is a sentimental issue, a religious issue, and doing politics on it is wrong. If BJP wants to do politics, they should do it on issues. Discuss investments, focus on the poor, discuss farmers, talk about your economic policies, and discuss how to reduce inflation.”
Pilot continued, “The price of crude oil in the world market has halved, but the Indian government is not reducing the prices. You have made populist promises. You are providing meals to 80 crore people in the country. And you say that you have developed a lot. If BJP does something, it is a contribution, a service, that is a good policy. Other parties are just making empty promises. If there are discussions on issues, if there are elections on issues, we are ready for that. But doing the work of garnering votes by doing politics on sentimental issues is wrong. Therefore, I don’t think it will make much of a difference.”
Before this, the chairman of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Construction Committee had invited former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and the party leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, to the foundation ceremony.
Following this, on Wednesday, Congress General Secretary – Communications, Jairam Ramesh, confirmed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi will not be participating in the Ram Mandir Pran-Pratishtha ceremony.
Jairam Ramesh stated, “Millions of people in our country worship Lord Rama. Religion is a personal matter.
However, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have turned the construction of the temple in Ayodhya into a political project for a long time. BJP and RSS leaders are clearly orchestrating the inauguration of the incomplete temple for electoral gains.”
