The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to field 33% of women in the upcoming legislative assembly elections. According to sources, the party plans to field women candidates in seats considered weak, intending to challenge the Congress.
Along with this, the party has also decided to consider giving a ticket to former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia. However, no decision has been made to finalize any CM candidate, as of now.
More than half a dozen MPs, including Central Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Kailash Choudhary, have been asked to contest the elections. MPs such as CP Joshi, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, Kirori Meena, Mahant Balaknath, Sumedhanand Saraswati, Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria, and others have been mentioned among the MPs.
A meeting was held with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss all issues related to Rajasthan. Most of the seats have been
finalized.
If the list of candidates will not be released till tomorrow, the names of the candidates will be announced next month, after Pitru Paksha (a period of mourning). The first attempt will be to release all the names at once.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the agenda. Ensuring security for women along with reservations will be a significant agenda for the upcoming polls. The Central Election Committee meeting of the party has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, in which the final names of candidates for all states will be decided.
