BJP IT Cell created fake account to defame Mumbai Police: Maha Home Minister

To discredit Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra government’s probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, reportedly over 80,000 fake accounts were created on various social media platforms. The Mumbai Police Commissioner has approached the cyber cell to look into the matter and register cases under the Information Technology Act.

“We identified the posts in foreign languages because of the hashtags used like #justiceforsushant #sushantsinghrajput and #SSR. We’re in the process of verifying more accounts,” said Mumbai Police Commissioner Paramvir Singh.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh told The Daily Guardian, “BJP IT cell is behind the conspiracy. We have enough proof. Mumbai Police are investigating the case. We will file a case against the person who is behind the fake account conspiracy.”

According to a report by the Mumbai Police’s cyber unit, it has been found that these posts were shared on social media platforms from different countries like Italy, Japan, Poland, Slovenia, Indonesia, Turkey, Thailand, Romania and France.

This comes after the forensic department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in its report to the CBI “ruled out murder” and termed it “a case of hanging and death by suicide”.

Mumbai Police, which was probing the matter initially before the CBI began its investigation into the case in August following a ruling by the Supreme Court, had also concluded the same.
