JAIPUR: In a strategic move, the BJP has appointed Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Bidhuri to oversee election responsibilities in Tonk district, Rajasthan, where the Gurjar community holds significant sway. The district houses four assembly seats, including the one occupied by senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot, also a Gurjar. Despite recent controversies surrounding derogatory remarks made by Bidhuri in Lok Sabha, the party hopes to capitalise on his Gurjar background to influence votes. As party insiders reveal, Bidhuri’s role will be similar to the district’s poll in-charge. The BJP’s decision reflects its routine of deploying MPs in pivotal assembly polls across states.
